What makes a good podcast room
Sound quality is decided by the room long before it is decided by the microphone.
- Acoustic treatment and low outside noise — traffic and ventilation are the usual culprits.
- Enough microphones and headphone outputs for every guest at the table.
- A mixer or interface with a clean multitrack recording path.
- Cameras or a good-looking corner if you publish video podcasts.
How booking by the hour works
Setspce is a marketplace: independent hosts list their space, you book the hours you need. There is no membership and no minimum commitment beyond the host's own minimum booking length.
- Pick your date and the hours you need — most spaces start at one or two hours.
- Send a request; the host approves or declines it. Nothing is charged until it is accepted.
- Pay securely in the platform. The address and access instructions unlock once your booking is confirmed.
- Add-on services (engineer, lighting kit, extra gear) can be added by the host and are priced per booking.
What does it cost?
Hosts set their own hourly rate, so prices differ per space, size and equipment. The price you see on a listing is the price you pay per hour: it already includes the Setspce service fee. Individuals see prices including 21% Dutch VAT; business accounts see net prices and VAT is added at checkout so it can be reclaimed. Longer bookings can carry a host-set discount, and a €1.50 booking protection fee applies per booking.

Allow set-up and wrap time on top of your recording time. Many hosts book podcast rooms in two- or three-hour blocks for a one-hour episode.
Can the host operate the session?
Some hosts offer an operator or editing as an add-on service. Where offered, it appears on the listing and is added to your booking.
