Natural light is the cheapest and best-looking light there is. Daylight studios on Setspce are rooms chosen for their windows, orientation and soft, usable light.
Amsterdam daylight changes a lot across the year: long, soft evenings in summer, a short usable window in winter. Book the block that matches the light you want and check which way the windows face on the listing.
Setspce is a marketplace: independent hosts list their space, you book the hours you need. There is no membership and no minimum commitment beyond the host's own minimum booking length.
Hosts set their own hourly rate, so prices differ per space, size and equipment. The price you see on a listing is the price you pay per hour: it already includes the Setspce service fee. Individuals see prices including 21% Dutch VAT; business accounts see net prices and VAT is added at checkout so it can be reclaimed. Longer bookings can carry a host-set discount, and a €1.50 booking protection fee applies per booking.
Overcast skies give very even, soft light and many photographers prefer them. Most daylight studios also list strobes or continuous lighting as backup.
Some daylight studios list blackout curtains as a feature, which lets you mix daylight and flash or shoot dark scenes in the same room.
